January 2021 - I have completed the demos for my new "album". "2020" is available for your listening pleasure.
November 2020 - I have completed the demos for my new “album”. “Sundown” is available for your listening pleasure.
October 2020 - My latest project is coming together nicely. Working on recording and mastering demo tracks for songs I’ve written over the past few months.
So I put together a few things I’ve been working on over the past few months. My new “album” 2020 is available for listening.
🤪💩😳😇
I’m an artist, a renaissance man, a reverse Apache master, and a fantastic travel companion. Just kidding, I’m actually only one of those things (hint: it’s the one that you’d least expect).
I write songs. I play those songs (poorly most of the time) until my stupid fingers will do their job. I then record myself (and I am really bad at that part) playing (poorly) those same songs. Then I desecrate and profane the art of music by trying to engineer/mix the (bad) recording of my playing (poorly). I make Amish farmers look like Bill Gates when it comes to digital audio recording.
Once I’ve done all of that, (and the cake’s in the oven - so to speak), I’ll try to find lyrics for the songs by using a complicated system of augury, animal husbandry, telekinesis, and deep meditation over the complexities of modern technology (especially as it relates to recording music and then mixing it in GarageBand). Once there are lyrics, I will rasp them into my iPad where the words will meet the music, blend together and make a decent compost for vegetable gardens and the like.
When I’m not doing music stuff, I practice law, I eat, I sleep, I parent my kid, I husband my wife, and a few other things of lesser importance.
I am writing this in the 7th month of a global pandemic, so I have more time on my hands than usual - ergo I filled out this bio that nobody will read.
- - - oh wow - - - I just realized that there is a character limit to my bio. Apparently I only have 2,791 characters left before I run out of space.
Sorry for going off on that tangent... now where were we?
Have I mentioned that I live in Florida? Well, you see, I was born and raised in Tennessee, and Tennesseans make the best music. While I’m not sure that the last sentence is true, the evidence is pretty strong for that argument. Let’s take a look, shall we?
TN People who are Good at Music TN People who are Bad at Music
-Elvis -Nobody
-Dolly
-Taylor
With that point proven beyond a reasonable doubt, I will admit that people who are not from TN can also make music, but it isn’t really “the best” music.
I have no idea what else to put in here, except to point out that I’ll be posting a bunch of songs. My first batch are already out here, but there aren’t lyrics (yet). Don’t ask me about lyrics, okay? I can write lyrics but OMG they always come out like the ravings of a middle aged man from FL/TN who thinks he is funnier than he is, and has far too high an opinion of the musical abilities of people from his native state.
I can hear it now: “Have you heard Jeff’s new song? It’s like if somebody taught an asshole to sing! It’s just what I’ve been searching for!”
And for the record (puns are funny), instrumentals are perfectly fine. If you love lyrics so much, why don’t you marry them?
So enjoy the music, or don’t. I’m going to make it. Then I’m going to post it here so that I can listen to it in the car and on the Sonos at home. I truly have no idea how to do that any other way, and I’m not going to figure it out any time soon.
To be continued....
Or not.....
