Persian Rug by Mahan Farzad published on 2018-04-07T13:41:21Z Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn5RisQCmcs For me Iranian visual arts like architecture, tilings, rugs and etc have always been minimal. Not as a meaning of being less, but for repeating loops, being circular or mirror, adding layers to layers to achieve the final picture as a multi-dimensional but exclusive work. And for me Persian Rug represents all those images and mininalism. The base structure builds in sides while in center different kinds of colors and shapes interconnect by repeatings and loopings to get the total product. So it became appropriate for me to write a piece of music based on those visual art works. We're talking about Iranian visual arts, so what's more proper for its music than Iranian instruments; such as Santour, Oud, Taar and Kemancheh. The purpose was finding the commons in them; which i think is minimalism language, in an Iranian dialect. Video: This video could not have been made without the helps of those who filmed their rugs and sent it to me. I'm grateful for their pure help. So this is "Persian Rug".
