Motion Pacheco
Albuquerque
When you’re a young adult, life is always moving and on the go. For rapper Motion, the best way to keep track is to adapt, improvise, and record. The Albuquerque, NM native, who has opened for artists such as Lil Flip, is quickly building a name for himself by providing narration of life for the 21 and under crowd. He is steadily building a name in his home state by rhyming live in popular New Mexico venues such as The Jamspot and Red Velvet, Red Gorilla Studio, Eclipse and the local cannabis community. Now, Motion focuses his attention on building a sound authentic to his experience.
Born Dezmond Pacheco, the 22 year old has shown a flair for the dramatic since an early age. He started capturing of audiences by dancing as a young kid. It was evident he enjoyed life as the center of attention; he was fearless even as a youth. He needed to be; in addition to the normal obstacles of childhood, he often experienced bullying during his adolescence. To overcome these challenges he faced in school, he would zone out to music, using hip hop and street dancing as a means of expression. He grew towards the sound of Chris Brown and Xxxtentacion, as well as newer stars like Da Baby, MoneyBagg Yo, and Lil Skies. Motion listened to these artists heavily and continued to grow with the sound; as he danced to these songs, he expanded and started freestyling in private. Months later, on the night of his senior prom, he was pulled into a freestyle session surrounded by his friends. Never afraid of the big moment, Motion delivered a solid verse to the surprise of his buddies. They complimented him on his style, and through their encouragement he decided to pursue music more seriously.
Now as he locks in to recording consistently, Motion focuses on developing his sound, craftily detailing songs from the perspective of a millenial learning to fit in and stand out simultaneously. The young rapper speaks on heartache, chilling with the team, and being hype, but above all his music highlights the process of converting every day trials and tribulations into fuel for success.
