Alan Morrissey Alan Morrissey Birmingham Guitar player, composer, soundtrack artist. They used to call us ‘gunslingers’... Penchant for heavy rock guitar, soundtrack work and cinematic compositions. Always happy to collaborate... Guitar focused, heavy funk metal music with big compositions, fast solos and chunky crunchy riffs, calling back to the '70's, '80's and '90's hey-day of British and American rock and metal bands! Started playing guitar way back in 1992, early influences were the late ‘80’s/ early ‘90’s LA and Seattle music scenes. Moved from Plymouth to Birmingham in 1997 to study at the School of Architecture. Formed a funk metal band which I played bass in for 4 years. Stayed in Birmingham, got married and had a family. Recently I’ve been writing and recording guitar driven instrumental compositions, standing on the shoulders of Nuno Bettencourt, Steve Vai, Mark Knopfler and the familiar favourites from my teenage years! Influences Slash, Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt, Eddie Van Halen, Mark Knopfler, Tom Morello, Ry Cooder, John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jerry Cantrell...
