Kingdom by the Sea by Valhjim published on 2021-07-19T14:27:03Z Kingdom by the Sea He loved her from the day he saw her floating in a shaft of sunlight in the mellow hour of a summer day. She came out the blue as in a dream, and turned his life into a song he carried in the chambers of his heart. He took her to a golden shore; she loved the sea and the salty sand. The days were long, their love strong. He promised her he would never part. as his hand caressed her glossy hair. Their bodies twined in love’s embrace. With a fall of snow, white winter came. Then she grew pale and her heart did chill. In a graveyard by the sea, she lies as if asleep. The days grow long and the nights grow cold; he dreams of her in their love’s embrace as they together lie in their kingdom by the sea. —©2021 Jim Valero (all rights reserved).
