Podcast 002 | Technology by theminimalists published on 2016-01-10T02:41:05Z Joshua & Ryan discuss minimalism approaches to technology, and they attempt to answer the following questions: How do you minimize social media feeds and not miss important info? How do you minimize your online browsing habits? How do you apply minimalism to technology? How do you embrace minimalism when your partner has no interest? What advice do you have for artists overwhelmed by art supplies? What was the most difficult thing for you to get rid of? How do you expand your vocabulary? How do you explain you don’t want things for gifts, but experiences? Is it better to donate items or to sell them? What does value mean to you? The Five Values in your book Minimalism are health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution. If there was a sixth value, what would it be? It is a great tool but as a sixteen year old I've found I put way to much importance into social platforms. 2017-01-19T15:22:25Z Comment by Earthbound Misfit As my first Minimalist action, I am buying "Essential"...for kindle. I am loving these essays! I am so glad someone recommended this pod cast to me. 2017-01-05T18:39:59Z Comment by Earthbound Misfit Many of the best points of the essay are what I consider to be common decency and consideration. (IE: not having them at the dinner table or at restaurants) 2017-01-05T18:36:43Z Comment by Earthbound Misfit LOVE the essay!!!! Greetings from Hungary! 2016-01-30T08:56:26Z Comment by User KPerez85 Love this - creativity is the antidote to consumption. 2016-01-26T21:00:57Z Comment by User KPerez85 Like shopping apps, following fashion bloggers is also a double-edged sword. I thought I was doing myself a favor by following people who's style I enjoy as a means for inspiration, but I found myself wanting what they had instead of repurposing what I already own to emulate the look. I unfollowed them recently and no longer have those pings of desire for new clothes. 2016-01-26T20:24:49Z Comment by Cindy Guerrero 6 Hi, My name is Cindy, currently living in New Jersey. What's worked for me on the matter (social media) is I've uninstalled Facebook and Email from my phone; I also refrain from joining new social media. I use Twitter for news, Instagram to see the world and cute puppies and Pinterest to look up some recipes. I find specific value in the ones I use and try not to use them impulsively but consciously. Still have room for improvement, but I’ve come along way. Thanks. 2016-01-23T20:35:19Z Comment by Dawn Davis Voiceover Haha!
