Andre’s extensive experience in percussion has set the stage for his production performance. He has practiced and performed the percussive arts for 18 years. He has played symphonic percussion at the high school and college levels. During high school, Andre was the percussion section leader of the symphonic band, marched center snare drum in the drum line, played drum set in the jazz band, played percussion in the basketball pep band, and performed in the steel drum and symphonic percussion ensembles. Also, he was selected to the All-Region and All-State Symphonic Bands. Andre Rosser was awarded the John Philip Sousa Award, The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, and was presented The Governor’s Award for Musical Excellence by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Mr. Rosser was a member of the Beta, Mu Alpha Theta, and Art Clubs. He was also the Vilonia High School Class of 2002’s Class President and graduated with an honors diploma.
After graduating high school, Andre performed with several groups. In 2002, he was the sole percussionist in a rendition of Into the Woods, a Broadway musical produced by the Theater Department at the University of Central Arkansas. He also marched snare drum for the UCA Marching Band his freshman year. His favorite ensemble to play with was Zoo Ethics. They were a Progressive-Rock group that mixed Rock with odd time signatures and changing meters. In 2012, he performed live shows in many popular local venues with The Woodies, a cover band. They would play acoustic and electric sets, and Andre arranged and performed the drum tracks onto a cajon, djembe, and auxiliary percussion instruments for their acoustic performances. He utilized the different sounds of the djembe and cajon combined with microphone positioning techniques to make the drum parts sound as if they were being played on a full set of drums. Their set list included 1990’s Alternative, Modern Rock, Comedy, Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, Electronic, and Classic Rock genres.
Andre loves creating music, performing music, producing music, watching live performances, and listening to original and popular tunes.
