Gate (2019) - Binaural Recording - 8-channel Sound Installation by Menghan Wang published on 2020-09-01T13:20:16Z The eight-channel sound installation Gate (2019) is a sonic transitional space, it is an experiment investigating how auditory perception manifests in other bodily sensations such as vision, senses of texture and speed, and how such sensations contribute to the perception of space. While the current physical space remains visually unchanged, sound breaks the stillness and transforms it into a sonic space by its constant evolvement and movement. Although invisible, the sonic space relies on physical relations, 'transporting' the perceivers to 'travel' through different spaces by bringing constant forthcoming and progressing sonic events.
