Lycio Off of the back of a BBC Airwaves Festival performance alongside artists such as Griff and Rag 'n' Bone Man, UK Electronic Hybrid trio Lycio announced the release of their next single 'I Wanna Know' via their own imprint Lycio Records. Since forming on the day of the notorious UK referendum vote, Lycio built a reputation as a flawless and prolific live act, racking up countless iconic performances as an independent act, playing slots and festivals seemingly out of reach to bands of their beginnings. Lycio twice performed at Chris Evans' CarFest for BBC Children in Need in 2017 & 18, featured at The Great Escape Festival and The Big Feastival 2019, and provided support for national icons such as Rae Morris, YONAKA, Self Esteem & fellow DIY-ers Low Island. It's little wonder that Lycio were awarded the prestigious BBC Introducing 'Artist of the Week' slot for BBC Hereford & Worcester in 2020. With a focus on championing females in music, Lycio take an egalitarian view of how their music is developed, allowing for an exciting, collaborative and democratic writing process. Vocalist and lyricist Genie Mendez, keyboardist Charlie Kellie and drummer Alex Lowe are each multi-instrumentalists, resulting in their performances being held completely live with no backing tracks or playback. Frequently the songs written revolve around singer Mendez' expressions of her own mental health and Kellie even designed his own software specifically to perform live.
