⚡️ POLLY PREACHER
Sandwiching jangly pop in between freak-folk and acapella, Polly Preacher (Ashleagh Claire Hurren) first released a demo of contrasting, lo-fi bedroom recordings ‘The Bad Thing’. She quickly began appearing on line-ups around the south-east, particularly with the support of Antigen Records, who she started playing regularly on bills for, and opening for Rozi Plain, Jeffrey Lewis and Robyn Hitchcock.
Her debut single 'Oh No, Oh Dear' was picked by Tom Robinson for BBC 6 Music Mixtape and received support from BBC Introducing. This was followed by a cover of The Cranberries’ 'When You’re Gone' - which lead to an interview on BBC 1 News about the release. Last year she gave a live BBC Introducing session with full band ahead of her upcoming EP 'Mother's Ruin'.
"Polly Preacher is wonky folk troubadour Ashleagh Hurren. Singer of wistful, idiosyncratic songs, imbued with otherworldly innocence and subliminal menace” - Antigen Records
"Bewitching electric folk" - Folk East
“Crepuscular and witty... There are a few shades of Kristen Hersh, perhaps even a little Lupen Crook, but for the most part a Polly Preacher song follows its own pattern" - Misfit City
🦁 ANIMAL NOISE
Animal Noise are an experimental indie trio, known for their unique, driving sound paired with singer Josh Sandifer’s striking vocals.
Single 'Baddow' (from 2012 debut album 'Run Loose') was playlisted on BBC Radio 1 as introducing Song of the Week. This lead to a live session for BBC 6 Music with Tom Robinson who championed the band, and huge support from BBC Suffolk. BBC Radio 6 Music have played every single the band have released so far, including Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson, and the trio have played across stages at Green Man, Bestival, T in the Park, BST Hyde Park, Shambala, Boardmasters, Blue Dot and the Hammersmith Apollo.
In addition, Animal Noise have toured extensively around Germany with LaBrassBanda and had single 'Fly' reach number one in the German college radio charts.
The anticipated second album from Animal Noise is now available on individually lathe cut 12" LPs, complete with striking artwork.
🌊 FIJI MERMAIDS
Fiji Mermaids are an aquatic-synth duo formed by BFFs Josh and Jack during the global pandemic and subsequent lockdown after suddenly having a lot of time on their hands. Jack records drum loops on his phone, then sends them to Josh, who turns them into songs using science and computers.
The long time collaborators and musical brothers have spent most of their musical lives together as part of the alt rock/indie trio Animal Noise; now they've moved into their difficult electronic phase.
Expect grainy analogue synths, badbadnotgood inspired drum beats, phone recorded vocals and many strange visuals in the videos.
