Soundscape : Huon Peninsula, Papua New Guinea by Listening Earth published on 2018-01-10T07:50:45Z This is an edit of recordings from the highland rainforests of the Huon Peninsula in Papua New Guinea. These recordings were made during a recent trip to PNG with several colleagues from the Australian Wildlife Sound Recording Group. This edit contains some highlights from the four weeks we spent trekking and recording in the mountain forests above 2000m. In the near future I'll be making these recordings available in full, but for now, this is some of what we encountered. I call them Pterodactyl birds and am rather eager for them to embark on their return journey. 2018-01-11T00:12:02Z Comment by Listening Earth Cloudforest (~2800m): Greater Ground Robin 2018-01-10T08:07:18Z Comment by Listening Earth Cloudforest (~2800m): Dusk cicada chorus, with Papuan Woodcock dusk flight calls 2018-01-10T08:05:54Z Comment by Listening Earth Hill Forest (~1100m): Emperor Bird of Paradise, with Cicadabird and Growling Riflebird 2018-01-10T08:05:09Z Comment by Listening Earth Huon Bowerbird by its bower 2018-01-10T08:04:25Z Comment by Listening Earth Regent Whistler song 2018-01-10T08:03:33Z Comment by Listening Earth Dawn chorus with Regent Whistler, Lesser Melampitta, Ornate Fruit Doves 2018-01-10T08:03:02Z Comment by Listening Earth Mountain forest (~2000m): Predawn insect chorus with Sooty Owl, Feline Owlet Nightjar and Papuan Boobook 2018-01-10T08:01:55Z
