Greg Nava Director Mi Familia Mendocino Film Fest KGUA Interview 5-25-18 by KGUA Peggy's Place published on 2018-05-26T22:49:49Z Host Peggy Berryhill and Co-Host Leigh Anne Lindsey talk with Director-Producer-Writer Greg Nava. This year, the Mendocino Film Festival is doing a special showing of his 1995 film Mi Familia (My Family) which he directed - which, because of immigration and deportation issues today, is still so relevant. My Family is a Francis Ford Coppola film and and winner "Outstanding Feature Film Bravo Awards". The screening is FRIDAY JUNE 1 @11am in CROWN HALL in MENDOCINO. Greg Nava along with actors Jimmy Smits and Esai Morales will be in a Q&A with MFF's Program Director, Claudia Puig, a renowned film critic and President of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. (Tickets & info at MendocinoFilmFestival.org.) Greg is an Oscar-nominated writer, acclaimed director and producer, as well as a governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. His impressive directorial credits include: El Norte, Selena, Bordertown, A Time of Destiny, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, and the PBS television series American Family: Journey of Dreams. He also co-wrote the screenplay for Frida. Jimmy Smits and co-actor Esai Morales (who I believe is also attending the festival) have acted in many popular movies and TV Shows. Smits is an Emmy Award-winning actor who has starred in shows like L.A. Law, NYPD Blue, Dexter, How to Get Away with Murder, and West Wing. Esai was in the 1987 film La Bamba, the PBS drama American Family, Showtime series Resurrection Blvd., and was Lt. Tony Rodriguez on NYPD Blue and Joseph Adama in the science fiction television series Caprica. FOR MORE INFORMATION GO TO: MendocinoFilmFestival.ORG Genre Entertainment
