Childhood (lost In The Middle Ages special Mix) exclusive by JAYLEEBENJAMIN published on 2022-07-28T22:29:21Z this song is one of many mixes with a full orchestra and different versions https://deezer.page.link/eotbbDWKyohd7RnA6 this song was originally written in the 1990s and was written before I returned to my original school and it was written about my childhood experience at boarding school and also my own childhood. Into the mix was the theme of abandonment and being alone and being different. I don’t think people understand sometimes how difficult it is to be different and how being like others makes things easier. It seems strange to be a different colour and won’t be white like everybody else in order to be accepted. Of course this seems ridiculous now but back then I didn’t have the understanding that and so losing friends saying goodbye to many people was a constant line of abandonment with no way of really saying goodbye. I guess that became quite clear in a dream I had recently of a boy who died who I knew I was fond of but died in his teenage years and I really never got to say goodbye, but I found that dream is telling me that this has happened so many times that the sadness and depth of that loss I have not recognised. I learnt an important lesson that people were adults are not always right and they can be corrupt and also hypocritical. This is coming from people were telling us what to do and have that power and in the chorus I sing, you can’t hurt me now because I see how you try to hurt me. The other lyrics and song are very clear as I wanted to make sure that the experience of writing the song would help myself but also help others to deal with pain and separation and difference. So again it follows the principles of love and compassion for oneself and how healing and education and working in oneself can help evolve. Genre classical orchestral ballad soul love piano
