JEAN SEAN
Miami
Perhaps one of the most passionate and astute DJs hailing from the Miami-Dade area, DJ/producer Jean Sean continues to impress fans and peers alike with his keen DJ skills, impeccable taste and insatiable love of music. His style is an amalgamation of tropical sounds reflective of his Latin upbringing and South Florida environment, combined with hard-hitting 808s and electronic elements. Beyond Florida’s state lines, he’s best known as the label head for his worldly indie label, Sophisticated Delinquency, and a performing member of the Bombón tropical bass collective.
Growing up in South Florida with a heritage richly anchored in Cuba, Jean Sean was heavily influenced by hip hop, Latin music, dancehall, disco, and electronic music and
gained a deep love for more worldly music like Afrobeats. It’s this diversity in musical styles and influences that undoubtedly shaped him into the unique artist and selector he is today.
So what began as a hobby over two decades ago, has now turned into a legitimate career. His success is attributed to his meticulous mixing skills, ability to read a crowd, and excellent track selection. These pillars have quickly made Jean Sean a regular fixture in the national festival and club circuit.
After playing a string of intimate venues, FM radio shows/podcasts, and securing DJ residencies in Miami, Jean Sean got a big break when he was invited to play an opening party at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in 2016, when he was able to flex for a much bigger audience.
Determined to grow, producing music was the next logical step in Jean Sean’s progression. His original production are available via Sophisticated Delinquency, a label he founded in 2016 to bridge the gap between cultures and worldwide producers, as well as on sister label Bombón Music. His discography is supported by DJs worldwide including both remixes and original tracks which are available on all streaming platforms.
Most recently, his music has been supported by Soulection and on Rinse FM; and he was a guest DJ on Miami’s Vibe 92.7 FM and on “Live From The 305” with DJ Laz on Pitbull’s Globalization (Sirius XM). During his brief stint in New York City in 2017, he started a dancehall, afrobeat, reggaeton party with hip hop influences in Brooklyn called The Jook Jam. He eventually brought on resident DJs The Letter “C” & Story King Brent, and has produced Jook Jam pop-up events in Gainesville, FL, Houston, TX, and Miami for Art Basel. The Jook Jam officially launched a Miami chapter in 2021 with a successful debut at Racket in Wynwood.
Jean Sean’s music career is full of many impressive DJ/producer/artist milestones, but he continues pushing his signature sound forward and breaking barriers in ever-evolving music space.
