Inner Circle are proud to present our new project CIRCLECAST.
CIRCLECAST is a series of recordings from friends, artists, DJs, and performers from our surrounding community, intended to inspire connection and memories for the raves that we were able to host and attend regularly before this year. Our plan is to have a mix series, guest interviews, livestreams, and more.
For our first instalment to welcome in the 2021 new year, we bring you this slammin' techno journey from Montreal DJ-producer s.talbot (@d_nrgy).
Like our live events, which seek to represent the diversity happening in today's underground dance music, our mix series is separated by the names of the events we would host pre-covid, with different genres and styles represented in each one. This mix falls under RIFT, our more techno / industrial-focused offering.
We'll be posting mixes once to twice a month, usually with a mini interview (French, English, Bilingual) exploring the creative mind of the featured artist. Big thank you to s.talbot for letting us into his world -- have a look below!

Jโai eu la chance de dรฉcouvrir la techno et lโambient au cours de raves โ ce qui mโa vraiment inculquรฉ que les deux styles, ambient et techno, existent sur 2 faces distinctes dโune mรชme dimension. Lโintensitรฉ de leurs รฉnergies sont extrรชmement rapprochรฉes, et partagent des destinations semblables, pour moi.
Dans ce sens, je suis extrรชmement attirรฉ par la discographie de zoviet-france, groupe proto- ambient des annรฉes 80/90. Une musique faite maison, non-linรฉaire, qui reprรฉsente lโexpรฉrience dโun moment - difficilement descriptible.

Most of the dance tracks I play, I have listened to over and over again alone - which often has the effect of transporting my mind to a strobe flashing, time deprived space of uninterrupted dance. And when I get that feeling, itโs usually a good sign that itโs the kind of track Iโll want to share. This feeling usually revolves around perceptions of freedom and connection with the people around me.

Je pense que la disposition idรฉale se situe dans le retrait de la prรฉsence visuelle de la personne performante (sauf si cette prรฉsence est artistiquement requise). Un arrangement qui permet une meilleure concentration (ou une absence de dรฉconcentration) relative ร la source physique du son. รa, je pense, cโest une maniรจre de tirer le maximum de lโexpรฉrience. Je le perรงois dโune maniรจre similaire ร รฉteindre un รฉcran pour รฉcouter une production. En enlevant le support visuel, on active des capacitรฉs auditives sur lesquelles on ne peut pas se concentrer lorsque nos yeux sont occupรฉs ร surveiller la source superficielle du son. Sans cette dรฉconcentration, lโesprit est plus libre pour comprendre, cerner, aller plus loin dans ce qui est audible. On se perd moins dans des dรฉtails qui ne comptent pas, ultimement.
