Tales from the Old Mill by Elbows published on 2021-10-13T19:56:33Z "Tales from the Old Mill" is the titular centerpiece of Elbows' upcoming debut album, out October 27 on EveryDejaVu Records. A sprawling nine minute sonic journey about the search for home, debauchery in the middle class, and missing parents, "Tales" is a story told from two years, traveling from the night before the Super Bowl in 2008 to the present tense of the album, Christmas Eve 2013. The title track morphs across its runtime from an upbeat what-if-Funkadelic-made-a-James-Bond-theme-song funk song, to a nocturnal string quartet suite, and finishing as a leering, 808-filled folk song, with psychedelic reverse guitars screaming throughout the outro. "The night we started recording 'Tales' in California is one of my favorite memories of making music," Elbows recalls. "At dusk we went down to Old Mill Park to see the looming, decrepit old mill, where I told my close friends/collaborators the stories behind this song, which were two of the more pivotal moments in my life. We drove back to the studio, over the hills and through the woods, and around midnight when we started recording, a connected, special feeling had come over us." The full 'Tales From The Old Mill' album is due out October 27. Genre Pop Comment by DARKͶNES Magnificent from beginning to end. 2024-03-12T02:07:25Z Comment by 🫂 👻 2023-04-04T04:01:57Z
