Cassette 1: The Tower by rebecca markab published on 2020-07-15T06:07:33Z "Become a tree, secure, alone." The first installment of my mixtape/audio collage series, this one was for my friend Brooke. For each recipient I drew a tarot card to use as a basis for their audio collage, and for her I drew the dreaded Tower: the 16th arcana, and one that typically strikes fear into the hearts of those that draw it. But really, there is nothing to fear here, except the true knowledge of the Self: the Tower is a symbol of the process of alchemical transformation. So, with that in mind this 90 minute audio collage is a narrative journey through the crucible of spiritual reckoning the Tower represents. We descend into a tornado of madness and chaos, until from the broken pieces, understanding begins to coalesce: and we come out the other side, new. The only way out... is through. Listen if you dare. Tracklist: (Note: below I will list the music tracks I played but not the found audio and field recordings.
