Danial Ariffin Azman Danial Ariffin Azman DANIAL ARIFFIN AZMAN (born Singapore, 1991) is a composer, arranger, pianist, producer and an educator. He holds a Diploma in Sonic Arts under the School of Technology for the Arts from Republic Polytechnic in 2013 and graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a First-Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition and Arranging in 2019. Danial was awarded the Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award (Merit) by MENDAKI Singapore in recognition of his talents and his potential to excel in the discipline of music in 2013 and holds a Diploma in Sonic Arts under the School of Technology for the Arts (STA) from Republic Polytechnic in 2014. He was in the SAF MDC (Singapore Armed Forces Music & Drama Company) as a musician during his National Service. He has been playing with Orkestra Melayu Singapura Belia (OMSB) and also the main orchestra, Orkestra Melayu Singapura (OMS) under the People’s Associations (PA Talent) since then. Danial also conducted the Orkestra Melayu Singapura Belia (OMSB) at a concert “Rentas Muzika” in April 2018. The Audio Image Wind Ensemble (Singapore) and MARA University of Technology Wind Orchestra (UiTM) (Malaysia) has premiered his first wind band composition titled “Enigma” in 2011 and 2014 respectively. Singapore Wind Symphony recently played Danial’s revised version of Enigma for their South Korea Tour 2016. In 2015, Danial was commissioned by Malay College Kuala Kangsar Wind Orchestra (Malaysia) to arrange Lagenda Gunung Ledang, a medley of music from the movie “Puteri Gunung Ledang” for their 17th SBP Finale Wind Orchestra competition and they clinched the Gold Award. They won another Gold Award for 2nd Malaysia International Music Arts Festival in the same year. Danial was the youngest composer to be commissioned by the Singapore Wind Symphony to arrange “We Will Get There” NDP 2002 Theme Song as part of the Songs of Singapore Project in 2012 and Dick Lee’s “Beauty World Medley” for “Singapore! A Musical Celebration II” in 2013. It was premiered at the Esplanade Concert Hall in July consecutively and he has been part of the Singapore! A Musical Celebration series since then. Other than working with wind bands and orchestra music, he arranges music for Marsiling Secondary School Chinese Orchestra as well. Danial also arranges music for Mediacorp’s Suria Malay dramas theme soundtracks by both local TV production companies like Eaglevision and DV Studio. He was appointed as one of the music arrangers for Mediacorp’s Suria singing competition program Juara Mic Junior (2018) and Anugerah. Danial has been the music director for Wadah Seni Entertainment’s shows such as Silver Arts 2019 “Sukma Irama Layar Perak” (Soulful Silver Screen Melodies) concert, Keroncong Asmara and a few upcoming show organised by the National Arts Council held at SOTA Concert Hall performing with musicians of the Orkestra Melayu Singapura (OMS). Danial was invited as a composer, arranger, performer and conductor for Rentas as part of Gemadah – Traditional Malay Music Festival organised by the Traditional Malay Music Consortium in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay in November. Currently, Danial is a relief educator and a freelance composer, arranger, pianist and producer.
