DEVI The first meaning is goddess. That which is sacred, whole and complete. Devi comes from the Sanskrit root div. which means she who exists in all beings. She, who is ever shining, bright & luminous. She who lights up this entire world. We are all Devis according to ancient Vedic knowledge. In our community, we see each other as Devis. We are all Devis and we let each other shine. We also gave additional meaning to Devi. D - Devotional E - empowered V - vibrant I - integrated Therefore our temple is a sanctuary with devotional empowered vibrant and integrated Devis. DEVI TEMPLE Temples are known for being a sacred place where all people are welcomed as they are, no matter their color, their background or their gender… we acknowledge in this sacred place that we are sacred beings seeking happiness and fulfillment in life. All beings want to be loved and seek validation. Often we seek for love and validation in the wrong places. In the Devi Temple, one is being loved for the simple fact of being an existent being, not because of their name, fame, status, power and or money. In the Devi Temple, we are all sacred mirrors to each other and receive the gift to be seen and heard, to be listened to and to listen, to share the untold stories of women. VIRTUAL ALTAR The altar represents the infallible abode. The place of all places. The place of absolute validation, where I am welcomed as I am, where everything is welcomed and looked upon as sacred, as it is. It is the place where we can express blame and express our anger. If we express our frustrations to a person, it often backfires on us, unless the person is very mature and can hold space for us. But anger is an expression of helplessness and pain. We are not helpless anymore because we can pray and ask for help. There are infinite options in every situation, yet often we are caught in tunnel vision and we cannot see further than what is in front of us. Each month you will be delighted with one song.
