AIR 024 / Luke Slater by AIR published on 2020-05-20T10:45:30Z We're back with episode 24! Recorded in early April 2020, this episode welcomes DJ and producer Luke Slater. @Luke-Slater has been DJing since the late 1980s, and by the 90s, his many aliases had become household names thanks to important releases on labels like Peacefrog, and Nova Mute. By 2009, Luke had joined Ostgut Ton, continuing to tour relentlessly and produce music with seemingly boundless energy — a quality with which he continues to approach his work today. His stamina is endless, and in order to keep up with the continuing love and demand for his music, it has to be. In this episode, our discussion focuses on longevity as a DJ, his mix for Ostgut's 15th anniversary, and the drive that keeps him going. ++ Music: Luke Slater - "O-Ton Reassembled 3" (From his Berghain Fünfzehn mix for Ostgut Ton) More info here: https://www.berghain.berlin/en/shop/releases/berghain-fuenfzehn-luke-slater/ Audio treatment by Airlock Mastering & Audio Genre Podcast Comment by swen__b really enjoyed this one. 2022-09-26T09:57:18Z Comment by Natz Nicolaeva <3 2022-09-11T23:11:05Z Comment by Marauder // Steam // Abnormal Derivative Dont give a shit about money either 2022-07-30T09:06:23Z Comment by Marauder // Steam // Abnormal Derivative I generally don’t attribute faces to names let alone opinions but i find it uncanny that one of my greatest heros is right all along 2022-07-30T08:35:06Z Comment by Christopher Ledger // Hidden Folder Often Finding myself coming back to this episode 2021-11-17T21:09:30Z Comment by Santiago Payán García Track ID? 2020-10-23T18:23:16Z Comment by Fergus McQueenie x 2020-09-05T21:59:38Z Comment by Matrix#AUTHOR@ELECTRONIC GROOVE MAGAZINE Luke Slater great human being+++ 2020-07-23T08:34:31Z Comment by Matrix#AUTHOR@ELECTRONIC GROOVE MAGAZINE Luke Slater visionary techno+++ 2020-07-23T08:31:23Z Comment by cdove This interview needs a follow up. Absolutely no idea. Everything revolves around it so much, I don’t really know what I would do if I wasn’t doing it.” 2020-05-20T11:10:39Z Comment by AIR “No matter if it’s not true techno to the original form, the whole ethos keeps on being reinvented. And the more that happens, I feel more and more part of the original invention of that time. Now I could probably say it looks like I was right. I’ve never thought techno was a fad or a craze… I always thought this is where it should be, this is the way people should be thinking.” 2020-05-20T11:08:38Z Comment by AIR “It doesn’t feel like I’ve been doing it as long as I have. It’s always a challenge and I like that. But also, it’s like… Be careful what you wish for because sometimes when you get to this place you’re trying to go, it’s actually not that interesting there. I like getting up the mountain but the view gets a bit boring after a while at the top.” 2020-05-20T11:01:49Z Comment by AIR “I think there’s a point that comes in everyone’s life where you have to look at yourself and decide what you’re going to do. You think, ‘Right, I have to make a decision now: what I want to do and I know that whatever I’m going to do, I have to stick to that.’ That’s what happened to me, I made a conscious decision that I was going to do this 100% for as long as I can. There’s no backing out.” 2020-05-20T10:57:07Z
