Patrick Lyons is no stranger to London’s underground music scene, whether it be as poet, compère, promoter, broadcaster actor/writer or transatlantic raconteur. Through his radio shows and music nights over the years, he has given a platform to such independent artists as Breton, Fat White Family, King Krule, Meatraffle and Warmduscher – among many others. After stints with South City Radio (now broadcasting as Reprezent London) and Resonance FM, he can now be heard on @ph7 The Neutral Zone, podcasts on Optical Radio (link below). Blue Temper, the Diy debut album, takes Lyons' distinctive spoken word performances and puts them right at the crossroads of Americana, jazz and electronica. As well as his own poetry, it also features a song co-written with the prolific Manu Chao (“Acre Lane Nights”) and Sarah Bear and Josh E Jungelist (“Slum Planet”). Described by Louder Than War as “fresh and compelling”, with particular praise for anti-war song Jonie, it tackles themes both personal and universal ,One the four tracks recorded with Sam Johnson - with the remaining seven were recorded with James Ward, whom Lyons met in 2008 as a broadcaster based at the London & Brighton music squat until its closure in 2011. Out of that friendship, they’ve gone on to be Short Film makers, co-writers, collaborators and band mate. Their band, MeU, has been relentless in bringing its neo-noir sound to the London’s stages all year, and also features the talents of Josh Baxter (Synth/keys) Cat Rin (Piano) Nathan Jamal (Bass). James Ward (beats/percussion) Harry Ling (drums) -
